WORLD FOOD DAY World Food Day is observed annually on October 16. This is a day to take action and help end world hunger. World Food Day is a day when many people organize food drives and free meals for those less fortunate. The main purpose of this day is to stamp out hunger everywhere. CELEBRATE Volunteer at a food bank or make a donation and use #WorldFoodDay to post on social media. HISTORY World Food Day celebrates the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on October 16, 1945 in Quebec, Canada. First established in 1979, World Food Day has since then been observed in almost every country by millions of people.
